Jet Bow Thruster.
For the Arca I wanted to make a Jet Bow Thruster, something you don't see that often in modelships. After a search on the internet I had a reasonable idea how to build one.
At first I made both the tubes on the lathe and then milled the chambers.
The basic material and both the tubes.
The tube on its place on the hull.
Both the tubes fit perfectly in each other.
Here the first of three chambers is made on the turntable on the mill.
The chamber is almost ready.
A last pass with the mill.
In the inner tube there will be only one chamber.
Both tubes are ready.
Here are the propulsion shaft and the prop mounted in the tube.
View of the building sequence: Outer tube, spacer, inner tube and the prop.
Everything mounted.
The basis for steering the inner tube.
The gear is mounted on the servo arm.
The propulsion.
The propulsion of the prop shaft.
Everything is build up with aluminium profiles, so this can be build up easy.
The thruster mounted on the underside of the hull.
A video of the working thruster.
